Alicia Frankovich
The practice of New-Zealand, Berlin-based artist Alicia Frankovich (b. 1980) is primarily preoccupied with performance and the extent to which we are all performers in our everyday lives. Presenting her work on the before-and-after space of the Biel/Bienne train station platform– where we are supposedly least obliged to perform– Alicia Frankovich appropriates and transforms the everyday gestures of service industry professionals and immaterial laborers into a choreography. In taking these public gestures out of context and placing them into another, she at once embraces their potential beauty while disclosing their absurdity.
