Noritoshi Hirakawa
The Japanese artist and film director Noritoshi Hirakawa (b. 1960) lives in New York. At a bedroom in the Middle of the Night is a photographic series which shows clothed Japanese couples having sex in public places in Tokyo. No one knows what is happening aside from the artist and the couple themselves. Hirakawa explained that he was offering the couples a chance to conduct themselves in new ways in a public space without the risk of provoking a scandal.
